Sean is Chair of Composition at the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver. He was formerly Assistant Professor of Practice in Composition at the USC Thornton School of Music, and before that, Lecturer of Composition at the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music. He also directs the Sunset Chamber Fest Young Composers Workshop in Los Angeles and is Composition Mentor in Residence at the Suncoast Composer Fellowship Program in Sarasota (see links below to apply!).

He teaches private lessons outside of the institutions to an international group of students, from high school composers up to professional adults working in the fields of classical music, film, pop, and more. His students go on to top undergraduate and graduate programs in music. They have been admitted to Composition programs at every Ivy League; and routinely go on to top programs such as USC, University of Michigan, University of Indiana, Oberlin, University of Miami, University of Denver, Peabody, UMKC, Juilliard, NYU, UCLA, Mannes, Manhattan School of Music, CalArts, Eastman, Cleveland Institute of Music, UC Berkeley, UC San Diego, CU Boulder, the Royal College of Music (London), and many others.
